linux - Clone of old Raspberry Pi image not working on Raspberry Pi 3 -

i have raspberry pi (mid-2013) running raspbian. purchased raspberry pi 3 model b.

i cloned sd card old pi onto micro sd card run in new pi, it's not booting. googled , apparently older versions of raspbian won't run on newer pi. tried updating raspbian on old pi , tried cloning across again, still won't boot on new pi.

does have ideas? new pi works booted new version of raspbian on card.

thanks

a mid 2013 pi running raspbian wheezy don't think supports new hardware on pi 3. need make sure firmware updated pi 3, try:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo rpi-update sudo reboot

the best way raspberry pi 3 running download latest image raspbian jessie official source , write sd card.

there forum post on how upgrade jessie path not officially supported. has been reported work fresh install if have installed applications problem. have @ forum post details: how upgrade wheezy image jessie
