hadoop - Read about Name Node and Checkpoint node. Can't clealy understand what are the contents of FSImage file and Edits log files -

i understand name node doesn't keep block locations of files in fsimage. keeps information in ram.

so fsimage file , edits log files have?

fsimage snapshot of actual metadata of cluster @ point of time, , copy snapshot in ram , if made changes metadata of cluster like, created or deleted 1 file in hdfs. changed metadata captured editlogs. editlogs , fsimage merged periodically have latest information metadata in fsimage. when restart cluster due reason , namenode machine transactions editlog in-memory representation of fsimage.
