i want [votes] value , use between <span></span> tags in .tpl file.

i know question may sound stupid, total beginner in smarty(and php).
it might possible shortcut in smarty. depending on version , configuration, can use php tag there, this:
{php} echo $object->votes; {/php} obviously, go in between span tags. note smarty experience few years old now.
